ANNIVERSARY DURING THE EPIDEMIC

Stay-at-home orders issued. Restaurants are closed to dining in. Beaches are closed. Parks are closed. There will be no date night.

Coronavirus is on the loose and the plan is to stay inside.

Everybody. All-day. Every day. Even on our anniversary.

Inside the apartment.

With the 25-year-old daughter that was supposed to visit for 2 weeks on her way to live in Italy (2 months ago). With the 4-year-old love of our lives (who sleeps with us). With our 22-year-old resident adult (currently residing in the living room, using the couch as his bed). With our 17-year-old daughter that is pretty much dying from social distancing (let’s not even).

Not quite what we imagined when we downsized from our home in Indiana.

Not quite how we expected to spend our 24th wedding anniversary.

We don’t like spending our anniversary in the United States of America. We prefer the Caribbean beaches.

The Caribbean is closed. Come to think of it, the entire world is closed.

We are all healthy. We have food, a roof over our heads, and food to eat. We are together (people are dying in hospitals alone without their family members). We have cable, Netflix, Hulu, Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, and the whole internet to keep our minds busy.

We can each go outside in the amazingly beautiful Florida sunshine and take deep breaths on the patio or walk around the block to get our exercise.

Things are not perfect. Money is kind of tight. But we have been poor and we have been sick before. We prefer poor over sick.

Like our wedding vows.

“I, Glamma, take you, PopPop, for my lawful husband, to have and to hold from this day forward, for better, for worse, for richer, for poorer, in sickness and health, until death do us part.”

Like the Dave Hollister lyrics:

Forever and ever through good and bad weather
Our love will remain even though the seasons may change
Forever and ever for worse or for better

There will be an end to isolation. There will be an end to the close and cramped living quarters. I will miss the hell out of them when they are gone. All of them!

I’m planning for that day.

I’m booking the family cruise in November for Thanksgiving week. I’m going to LOVE being in Belize, Honduras, Cozumel, New Orleans!!!

I’m booking the couples getaway to Cancun in August! Just me and my boo! We gone pretend like it’s March 29th and celebrate our anniversary.

I’m the Chief’s wife. I’ve decorated Christmas trees in April, I’ve survived extended deployments, I’ve raised 5 children. I started a business that no one thought could be successful and grew it to the point that I was able to quit my corporate gig.

I can absolutely celebrate March in August. LOL!

Seriously, though, on our 24th wedding anniversary, I’m so happy that we have each other! I can’t imagine living without him. He is my very best friend. My inspiration and my protection. He is every hope I have for our future. I love my husband.

You should come and hang out with us.

Love,

Glamma
